We realised a method to precision-weld metal powder using common arc-welding tools. Further improvement of powder transport is needed, though.

There are several ways to build metal 3D-printers, most of them prohibitively expensive. Though an open-source approach exists, it lacks in precision. My master thesis investigates the precision of plasma arcs in argon atmosphere. We applied the results to powder and developed a method to precision-weld metal powder. Further development is needed to get 3D-structures, but the results look very promising.
Remaining problem is to find/develop a stable powder source.
